Yes he was a bastard at first, but I understood why and it was easy to forgive. From the very start, I felt sympathy for Lane.

I easily connected with both of these men. The banter between these men really stole the show and made this book enjoyable for me. The way the snark carried through this story even in the midst of life or death tension, was well done and brought cohesion to the tone. It gave the story a bit of levity and helped me get past the misgivings I had over how this relationship started. But once I got past that, the story was entertaining. I didn’t really understand why Felix would be allowed to have the caretakers job and the initial sex scene between these men didn’t really sit very well with me. So this one started off a bit rough for me. Felix may be out of his element, but one thing he is sure about is that he doesn’t want to leave, even if it costs him his life. Being chased by cops, kidnapping a man, and breaking into a drug operation seems to be his normal since arriving in Lane’s life. Together, Felix and Lane will be forced to see just how far they will go to protect each other. But when someone begins stalking Felix, he is left to question who Lane is and what actually happened to him. There’s something about Lane that draws Felix to him and makes him question if this place could finally become a home for him. Anything has to be better than the place he’s leaving. When Felix lands a job taking care of a man recovering from severe injuries, he thinks his life may have just turned around.
